Candle trimmers and snuffers are essential tools for maintaining and extinguishing candles.

Candle Trimmer

Trimming the Wick: Before lighting a candle, trim the wick to about 1/8 to 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) above the surface of the wax. This helps prevent excessive smoke, soot and ensures a clean, even burn. Use the trimmer to remove excess wick, keeping the candle wick clean and preventing debris from falling into the wax

Using the Candle Trimmer

  • Hold the candle trimmer at an angle, with the flat side against the candle's surface.
  • Place the blades over the wick, close to the surface of the wax.
  • Squeeze the handles of the trimmer to cut the excess wick. The trimmed wick should fall away.
  • Discard the trimmed wick remnants before lighting the candle.Candle Trimmer

Candle Snuffer

Extinguishing the Candle

  • To extinguish a candle using a snuffer, gently place the snuffer over the flame. Ensure the snuffer completely covers the flame.
  • Avoiding Wax Splatter: The snuffer helps prevent wax from splattering when extinguishing the candle. It's a safer alternative to blowing out the flame, which can sometimes result in wax spray.
  • Removing the Snuffer: Once the snuffer is in place and the flame is extinguished, lift it straight up to avoid spreading any residual smoke or scent.

Cleaning

  • Regularly clean the trimmer blades with a soft cloth to remove any wick residue.
  • Wipe the snuffer clean after each use to remove any wax residue. Wait for the snuffer to cool before cleaning it.
  • If there is excessive buildup, you can wash the snuffer with mild soap and water. Dry thoroughly before storing.

By using a candle trimmer and snuffer correctly, you can enhance the safety and longevity of your candles while maintaining a clean and enjoyable burning experience.
